School-Year Workshops and Master Classes

Winter Workshop with Lorena Feijoo

December 28-31, 2015

For Intermediate/Advanced ballet students ages 12 and up. Ladies should have at least one year of pointe training.

Ballerina Lorena Feijoo, whose stellar international career includes over a decade of experience as a principal dancer at San Francisco Ballet, appearances at major opera houses around the world, and television appearances on Dancing with the Stars and Sesame Street, will provide world-class training at this unique training experience. With a focus on honing classical variations, this workshop is the perfect way to boost your technique and artistry for audition and competition season.

Schedule: 10:00am-12:00pm (technique class); 12:00-12:30pm lunch; 12:30-2:30pm (variations/coaching)

Classes may include Silicon Valley Ballet School Faculty and other guest teachers, depending on Ms. Feijoo’s performance schedule. Program dependent on enrollment.

Cost: $350 for four days of classes, or $150 per day.

Spring Choreography Workshop

Mentored by renowned choreography professor Fred Mathews, students will learn choreographic skills and create their own work, to be shown in a culminating in-house showing. Fred Matthews is on the Dance Program Faculty at San Jose State University, where he has taught choreography for over twenty-five years. A former member of the José Limon Dance Company, he is known for his mentoring of young choreographers, and has inspired a new generation of Silicon Valley artists. For experienced dancers ages 14-22, including SVBS students in levels 5A and up. For outside students, please submit a video of 2 minutes of dancing, in the style of your choice for acceptance.

Dates: Saturdays, February 27-May 21 (no classes March 5 for ALICE (in wonderland) rehearsals, March 12 for ABT Exams, and April 2nd in observance of Spring Break)
Time: 2:30-4:30pm

2015-2016 Master Class Series

The 2015-2016 Master Class Series offers all dance students ages 11 and up the chance to train with the best! Pointe shoes are not required, but may be worn by experienced dancers for portions of the class at the discretion of the Master Teacher. All classes will be held at Silicon Valley Ballet’s San Jose Studios, 40 N. First St., in downtown San Jose.

Master Class with José Manuel Carreño
Sunday, March 13, 11:30am-1:30pm
A technique taught by Artistic Director José Manuel Carreño.
Cost: $100 to participate, $25 to observe.

ALICE (in wonderland) Master Class with Ommi Pipit-Suksun
Sunday, April 10, 11:30am-1:30pm
Train with Principal Dancer Ommi Pipit-Suksun, in a class inspired by the experience of preparing for Septime Webre’s ALICE (in wonderland).
Cost: $75 to participate, $25 to observe
